Frock Candy - 30.7.10

Last week was great. This week I'm struggling to choose between worsts.
Oh, nearly included Annalynne McCord again, that one would literally attend the opening of an envelope.
Let me know what you think!

Best
This is how you do structured. Take note Blake Lively.
Couldn't get a picture of Gwyneth on her own. Anyway. Amazing. She know's her shoes. That kind of knowledge is always appreciated with me. It's beautiful.

Fair to Middlin' Sure
Henry Holland is obviously a positive influence. She's on the road to style recovery. But, if those shoes are anything to go by, she's not there just yet.
Her hair is gorgeous. Sometimes I look at this and I see a sack. And then I look and see Vionnet. It's the sleeve that's off putting I think. Overall she looks nice, it's when you glance at her that she looks like a bag of shpuds.

Worst
Hideous angle. Her face looks weird. Hideous dress. The colour is just bleuch. I'm sure you've realised that I hate things that look cheap. The black lycra on the sides of this is cheap. Dirt cheap. Shoes are very school librarian. Jewellery is plain and dull. The hem line makes me ill. Genuinely ill.
Ok, so I try really hard to put my dislike of Angelina Jolie aside when doing this. I thought to myself if this was VB would I hate it as much? I would. It's great to see her in colour. Just not this weird red colour. I hate halternecks. Hate them, they are flattering on hardly anyone. Especially when the neck is thick. Ew. That weird piece of material on her hip is unnecessary. I don't like her hair. It's like when you come out of the hairdresser and they've just dried it all wrong. Go home, fix it, then go out. Chiffon is grand but, it's so debs-y it hurts my eyes. Stick to black Angelina, I can tolerate that.
NIPPLE. I'm not a huge fan of monochrome. It's too matchy, to structured and too polished..., apart from her jewellery which I assume she picked out in the dark. Those shoes should be burned. The cut of the trousers is weird and I hate satin. Top and hair are bleuch. Blake you can do so much better.

Bang you're dead, here's your silhouette

I'm getting my hair cut.
I hate the pressure.
As someone wise once said, 'you're only as good as your last haircut'

Ah fook it, I'll just get a trim.

Oh, LOVE this.

Ear Candy - 29.7.10

Only one song on my mind these days.

On Wednesdays we wear pink!

We painted our front door pink.
We're weird like that.
It looks ridiculous but in the coolest possible way.
It's Barbie's house, and I live there.

How do you know the last swing weren't your last for good?

I'm all about the packing these days.
I'm leaving Sunday so I'm currently trying to decide what to leave behind. 'I might wear that' and 'I could wear that one night' will not cut it.
I've learned from my mistakes and I'm determined to have organised outfits.
It's never gonna happen.
Here's some of my summer wear inspiration...
Foto:
Bank White Dress, Garage Shoes Military Boots, Topshop Gold, Mirror Necklace
Charity Shop Crushed Velvet Shirt, Charity Shop Tarten Highwaisted Shorts, Charity Shop Red Belt, Birmingham Market Spotty Tights
My must haves are denim shorts, a sheer white tee, a scarf (to accessorise and to turbanise), leather shorts, my white priest dress and my new shoes.
What are your holiday must haves? And what will I forget to pack?
Tell me now, I'll hold it against you if I forget something. :)

And if I can't pull off a turban look like this..
I'll settle for finding a way to not only get my hair like this, but also freeze frame it like this, for the next couple of weeks :)

We've seen them all and we've chosen you

I'm well late with this one.
Mercury Music Prize 2010.
My favourite awards fo' sho'. Always my kind of music and usually my prediction wins. Haven't made my prediction publicly known before so perhaps I'm only going to embarass myself and be way off. Last years winner was a disgrace, no offence. Don't ya just hate when people say 'no offence' after offending you. 'Oh you meant no offence, well that's fine I won't bother fixing my hair today so. You priiick'
Here are the nominees.

Biffy Clyro 'Only Revolutions'
Villagers 'Becoming A Jackal'
Corinne Bailey Rae 'The Sea'
Mumford & Sons ‘Sigh No More’
Paul Weller 'Wake Up The Nation'
Wild Beasts 'Two Dancers'
Kit Downes Trio ‘Golden’
Laura Marling 'I Speak Because I Can'
Dizzee Rascal 'Tongue N’ Cheek'
Foals 'Total Life Forever'
I Am Kloot 'Sky At Night'
The xx 'xx'

I personally would like to see Villagers or The XX take home the prize.

Something tells me it could be Biffy Clyros year.
But, I despise that stuff so, rather than post a video of Mountains or some other rubbish,
I'll predict...
Wild Beasts

Who would you choose?

Frock Candy - 23.7.10

Oh, I struggled this week.
Olivia Palmero wore a leopard print swimsuit on Monday and since then my head has been a constant battlefield,
'You have to put it in'
'No you can't, it's Olivia overkill'
'It's leopard print'
'So, oh look at Alexa Chung....'
'Don't try to distrac- oooh, look at Alexa Chung...'

I give you Frock Candy.
Minus Olivia Palmero, for once!

It's very Alexa. Love the shade of the shirt against her skintone. The jean shorts are perfectly distressed. And the slouchy bag and oversized looseness of the shirt make this so effortlessly chic.
I love this. Kate Bosworth has really grown in the style stakes this year. She was always pretty fashionable, but I've yet to see her make a mistake this year. The colour is gorgeous on her and I normally hate orange. She just looks cool and so simple.
Rachel Bilson is entering Olivia Palmero territory. Couldn't find a picture of her alone but that's ok they're both Best. More orange. More gorgeousness. The shape of the jacket and the clutch aren't immediately noticeable but so beautiful. Shoes are cool. They make me want to wear orange. That's no mean feat for a shoe.

Ok, so I realise this won't be a hit with everyone. I love this top. I love it against her pale skin. I love her hair. I love the red lip. The sunglasses. The jeans and shoes are grand but that Marc by Marc top is amazing.
I enjoy double denim as much as the next person. The thing about this trend is, the colour and cut are important. The washes of the jeans and the shirt don't particularly work together. I don't love those shoes with a flared jean either but, its a daycent effort.

Worst
How tacky is this. Stella McCartney I'm surprised at you. I really hope this was intended to be worn with a trouser of some sort. Those satin shoes don't help. A pair of blue Nicholas Kirkwood heels and I could have forgiven this. It's just so cheap looking.
WHEN WILL THESE DRESSES DIE! I can't take it anymore. The world and it's mother have worn them to death since Herve Leger put one on the catwalk, oh I don't know, two years ago! I know it's the labels signature dress. But enough already! This doesn't even fit her. Her shoes look like wicker..., wicker!
I like her nail polish.
That's it.
No. Those shoes make me sick, they're scum between my toes. This looked alright on Kim Cattrall in SATC 2 and on RiRi. Thing is it suited Samantha. And it's very Rihanna. Kristen had severe issues with boobage and this little number. You can't wear a 'girl-next-door' hairstyle with a dress which has spikes coming out of the shoulders. No. Just no.

Ear Candy - 22.7.10

Lyrics.
They make the songs.
You may have noticed that the titles of my posts are all song lyrics. Usually taken from the song I'm listening to before I hit publish, or sometimes just a lyric that has been in my head.
I love love songs. Not Whitney Houston The Greatest Love type of tunes but, ones which feel real. Ones which don't proclaim themselves as love songs, or allude to tales of great love, but ones in which love is present. Ones which share the little meaningful moments, thoughts and emotions. Ones which sing of love as it does feel, not overly romanticised, just real.
Well, kind of romanticised. But still. Real.
Todays Ear Candy reflects that. Next week will be less ghey.

'Meet me in the hallway bite your lip when I say never have you left my mind'
'Nothing busy, nothing easy but something you'
'Hands down I'm too proud, for love. But with eyes shut it's you I'm thinking of'
'Give me two hands I can hold, I'll tell you things I've never told'
'And I said I know it well, that secret that we know that we don't know how to tell. I'm in love with your honour, I'm in love with your cheeks'
'the moment we forgot we were just good friends I moved my arm her face went red again'
'There is a love that flows between us, ever-changing everyday'
'Your love will be safe with me'
Finally, Kate Nash writes ordinary love like no-one else. I tried to pick out one line. I failed.
'I wish I was your favourite girl, I wish you thought I was the reason you are in the world.
I wish I was your favourite smile, I wish the way that I dressed was your favourite kind of style.
I wish you couldn't figure me out, but you always wanna know what I was about.
I wish you'd hold my hand when I was upset, I wish you'd never forget the look on my face when we first met.
I wish you had a favourite beauty spot that you loved secretly, 'cos it was on a hidden bit that nobody else could see.
Basically, I wish that you loved me'

Yeah, sorry about this I've been writing far too much. :)

You're my favourite

I'm going on holidays!
Bitta sun is just what the doctor ordered. Except, I didn't go to the doctor, and I doubt he would prescribe sun, unless of course what was ailing you was a severe deficiency of Vitamin D. Even then he'd probably tell you to take a couple of pills. What a ridiculous saying.
Either way, I'm off.
Holidays mean packing. Which, to me, means shopping.
Here's what I'mma gonna buy.

It's quite 'back to the 90's' I shall have leather shorts though. I dream of leather shorts.

Oh, follow me on twitter. I don't know how to use it.

it's just like the love, the one that's never been enough

Images. Right yeah, sometimes I see nice ones and I save them. Some of them are messages, some of them are just plain pretty. Some inspire and some well, don't. Hopefully they'll inspire you. Or give you something nice to look at for a minute or two.
Essentially, this is lazy blogging. I'm lazy. Tomorrow's post will be tres fashionable. You have my word.
