Sentimental you and faithful me

Spring 2011

Haute Couture
1

Alexandre Vauthier

It's feminine, classic and beautifully cut. When I make my millions I'm buying that last dress for my sister and the silk number for myself.

Jean Paul Gaultier

I loved watching this show. The photos don't do it justice. I adored that colourful suit and how the whole thing felt like a journey through the decades. Sexy, playful and beautiful.

Armani Privé

Well hot damn it's a space age safari. Loooove the hats. The shiny material not so much. The use of colour is beautiful. Can't see Anne Hathaway loving this Armani collection though!

Valentino

I love the necklines, the subtle glamour of it all. The texture is insane. Green fur? Yes please! It's bringing old, classic 19th century feminine beauty into a modern era. I adore it.

Alexis Mabille

I love the styling of this. The belts. I may invest. The velvet dress is gorgeous. As are all the bow details. I would happily live in the last dress. EmmaHeartsFullSkirts.

Givenchy

It just gets better and better. Love the use of colour. And the swan dress. I live for the swan dress.

More to come tomorrow...

We never thought it would be us

Crystal Renn news again.
She has become the face of Gaultier. Brilliant news and an excellent choice for a label which is crying out for someone with curves like Crystals.
She has also spoken out about the Fashion for Passion campaign which I wrote about a couple of weeks ago here.
This is the campaign
Crystal Renn for Fashion for Passion (Photography: Nicholas Routzen)

And this is what Crystal had to say about it

"When I saw the pictures, I think I was just silent for a good five minutes, staring with my mouth open. I don't know what was done to me in those photos, or who did it, but they look retouched to me. And listen, everybody retouches, but don't make me into something I'm not."

Straight up.

The photographer, Nicholas Routzen claims that a high angle and a wide lens were responsible. Sure, love.
I just don't know what to make of it. Retouching and airbrushing are just a part of the fashion industry. I have little problem with it. It might sound shallow but I would prefer to look at a beautiful image that has been touched up than a sloppy image which hasn't.
It's when it goes to extremes like this that I think it should be reigned in. She's beautiful. Let her be.

I screamed like a child my insides went wild

Some couturiers seem to have copped on to the fact that no-one can afford it anymore and have moved towards a more theatrical, creative collection. A 'no-one can afford to wear it so let's design stuff that no-one will wear' sort of attitude. Suits me grand. I love a good show. Although, I probably would wear all of it. Slave to fashion or wha. Others have reigned it in. Gone to basics and simple designs that aren't going to overwhelm anyone. To be honest, if I'm going to part with multiple grands, I'd need to be fairly overwhelmed.

Couture Fall 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier

What wouldn't you give to be Gaultiers muse. She looks like she has an incredible life. To me it's Catherine Baba, I could see her in all of this. I'm anti smoking and all, but god that looks cool. Choices of fabrics, everything about this is just aspirational and really sensational.

Armani Privé

So very, very..., Armani. Carmen Kass stood out so much. Apart from Karlie Kloss it's rare that I notice a model during the first flick through, but she looks fantastic. I think that also says a lot about the clothes, they're easily overlooked. Pretty and chic, but a little safe.

Chanel

I'd declare disgust over the boots but, I don't doubt, in a matter of hours I'll want a pair. That's the beauty of Chanel. The arms kind of remind me of Woody's from Toy Story, ya know where he gets stitched back up? Yeah... That red dress has Grace Coddington written all over it so keep an eye out for it on the pages of US Vogue.

Givenchy

The silhouettes are incredible. Possibly the most raved about collection of this season. I'm gonna be married in one of these babies, you'll see...you'll all see.

Elie Saab

A pretty dress is definitely his niche. Doesn't disappoint, not a trouser in sight. Some of them are breathtaking. Fairytale worthy.
