Frock Candy - 2.7.10

Mixing it up this week with a Glasto special. Festival fashion over the last few years has gotten a bit monotonous. Biker boots, denim shorts, tribly, and a scarf has become the uniform for the Kate Moss brigade. Coachella is a little more adventurous, although I can't imagine negociating a playsuit in a portaloo.
On another note, I'm going to Electric Picnic. No plans of yet but the decision has been made.
So here we go. As always give me your thoughts!

*Glastonbury Wears*

Best

She looks like she's stepped out of another era. Love the dress, great shoes. A-mazing hair. She's at a festival how can her hair look that good!
Those shoes are fantastic. I want some. The bag stands out against the rest. Great shirt. Denim shorts but sometimes it's nice to fit in. :)

Fair to Middlin' Sure

Bad shoes. It doesn't look like it but she insists she's wearing shorts. The bag looks like one I used to bring to school. I believe it was purchased in a hardware. No joke. Bad. Badges are just very 5 years ago. I like the hat and the hair. From the neck up it's all good.

Worst

Pixie is my favourite Geldolf, without doubt. This is not good though. I normally love black on a sunny day. It stands out from all the florals and pastels. This is wrong though. Socks look like they've been borrowed from her dad. Clearly no bra for Pixie. She forgot her trousers. Terrible sleeve on the curtain. I have little issue with the bag.

*And the Rest*

Best
Was going to leave it at just a Glasto special this week but I just had to include Sienna. This is a great look. The beige with the grey is gorgeous. It's summery and pretty and so very Sienna. Great shoes. She doesn't get much wrong.

Kate Moss can do little wrong either. Love these shoes. And love that it's all grey but still manages not to look like she's heading to a meeting. That belt is really nice, nice enough that I actually notice it anyway!

What a ride. Don't care how old she is. If you have those legs, glue yourself into PVC and wear it forever. I'm jealous.

Fair to Middlin' Sure

Ok, so first off I'm not a Jolie fan. Team Jen 4 LYF. But, I am being impartial in this one. The shoes look funny it's like the weren't meant to be a peep tow they just didn't have enough material to cover the toe. They look like unicorn hooves. The dress does not fit. The bracelets nice, as is her hair.

Clearly Nicole was disappointed I didn't include her last week as she wore the exact same outfit this week. You shouldn't have bothered love, it's not your best look. I love the shoes. And it is a nice outfit. It's just not the Nicole I know and love. She should have lost either the tights or the jacket. It's LA it can't be that cold!

Worst

I love Britney. I always root for her. I paid a frickin' fortune to go see her in Dublin. I love her. I do not love this. What is that on her feet? No seriously what? Bad extensions, the top is a hideous colour and the bag with it? Just no Britters, no. I still love you though.

It's like forgetting the words to your favourite song

Sorry. I know I said Tuesday but alas, my laptop was MIA so was not to be.
I was right about one thing, Kate Bosworth wore Valentino.

Spectacular display.
For those of you who have not yet seen them, here are some of the very best.

Always, always trust the Chung. Even when you can't really understand why she picked out something that a matador would wear to a funeral she will make it look amazing. Or maybe that's just through my adoring eyes.
nicole richie met ball 2010 05
You're boho Richie and I love you for it, honest I do. But, in this case hair up!
sarah jessica parker met ball 2010 06
I would have lost the matching hair thingy but, meh, each to their own.
kate bosworth met ball 2010 01
I'm so clever. She looks incredible.
sienna miller met ball jude law 03
She stole the show. And I hate that expression but she did I mean look!
emma watson met ball 2010 05
Beaten by Sienna for her shoe choice. It was a tough call but, I had to be slightly impartial. I still love you forever Watson.
chanel iman met ball 2010 02
Every girl should have a gold sequined jumpsuit in her closet. Love.
diane kruger met ball 2010 joshua jackson 01
Simply perfection. The sleek hair and clean underdone make up top this one off just lovely.

Anna Wintour, could you invite me next year? :)

So you made it start, can you make it stop?

Hi, Hi! Apologies for the absence, places to go, people to see, lazying to be done!
Nicole Richie has launched her Fall Collection while I've been away. I must say I'm a fan of Nicoles designer endeavours. She does boho chic like no other and you can envisage her in every piece in the collection.
Sometimes I disapprove of celebrities being handed fashion lines because of their name and not their talents. I mean imagine having wanted to design your whole life, spending night after night sketching, stitching and dreaming only to lose out to Heidi Montag? Is there a more cruel fate imaginable?
In this world of celebrity a name is all you need. However, even some of the biggest names get it very, very wrong.
Beyonces House of Dereon is shocking. It's just Marc Jacobs, Cavalli and Marchesa knock offs, made with cheaper materials, terrible cuts and generally bleuch. The one thing celebrity lines do have going for them is that they can be the face of their own line and essentially design what they wear. Beyonce doesn't even look good in her own designs. To me, that speaks volumes.
You would think Kimora Lee with all her years in the industry would know a thing or two about designing. You'd be wrong. Yuck, yuck, terrible, yuck.
Lauren Conrad, here's an American Apparel t-shirt. I've cut off the label and replaced it with one with my name on. I'm going to charge you $150 for it. That cool with you? Lazy and uncreative, Lauren.
Just because it's offered to you doesn't mean you should. Unless you are Olsen or Richie put the sketch pad down!

Suckle on the hope in lite brassiere

Happy New Year my darlings!

Thought I'd use my first few posts of the new year to commemorate those who have really impacted the style and musical output of the last decade, and those I hope will come into focus in 2010.
Firstly we're going to have a look at the stylistas of a decade that I will not refer to with that horrible media word that has been fashioned for the year 2000-2009. Blah. Anyway...

2000's - Style

Emma Watson
I can't help it her dress from the rainy Harry Potter première in London began an infatuation that shows no sign of going anywhere.

Kate Moss
Queen of the catwalk, queen of the models, queen of trends- style queen.

Alexa Chung

I love her. Was once told by someone that I remind them of her. Made my year. The Mulberry Alexa bag has a place on my wishlist, I want it more than the Ostrich Bayswater!

Alexa ChungAlexa Chung

Sienna Miller

She beat the designers in her trend-setting ways. Takes a true fashion wonder to do that. Oh and Twenty8Twelve is, in my opinion, one of the most credible celebrity fashion labels due to its association with Ms Miller.

The Olsens

Not loved by all but, credible in the fashion world and iconic to me!

The Gossip Girls

All the designer clobber one could dream of. Four girls with completely different style, all the drama you could want. It's Chanel bags at dawn, love it.

3x07 - blair-waldorf photo

The Sex and the City ladies.

As above, just replace 'drama' with 'melodrama' and 'Chanel handbags at dawn' with 'Manolo Blahniks all day long'

Victoria Beckham

Classy bird, I shake my head in pity at those who determine Posh Spice a chav. Pur-lease she's Jackie O with more embellishment. I allow a lapse of judgement on the Burberry hats and his and hers outfits all was forgiven with her new line. Uh-mazing.

Rachel Zoe

There is scarcely a look in hollywood that doesn't have a little of the Rachel Zoe magic behind it. Ledgebag.

The MTV generation of reality tv girls

Lauren, Whitney, Olivia &co. Unfortunately can't include Stephanie Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Kristen Cavallari, Heidi Montag, Lo Bowsworth or Stacey and Roxy. No offense intended you just didn't make the cut, close though...not really.

Nicole Richie

A champion of Rachel Zoe and the size Zero movement. Thankfully now she has had a couple of babies and is looking a little healthier these times. Her House of Harlow range is to die for. I love, love, love it. She has that free and effortless style that seems to be trickier to achieve than it looks but, the lovely Nicole attains it spectacularly. Also, she looks gorgeous while pregnant and not in that oh so fake 'you're glooowing' kind of way, like literally hot. Fair play.
Out for Coffee in Studio City, October 15, 2009

That's it for now, pretty good decade fashion wise. My Trilby hat off to you ladies.
