Lights turned up it's hard to hide

Spring/Summer RTW 2011
In a nutshell.

The Looks

Clockwise from left: Antonio Berardi, Cushnie et Ochs, D&G, Rodarte, Gucci, Elie Tahari.

So white is the new black. There literally was barely a collection that didn't devour head to toe white. The Berardi suit is exquisite. Block colouring was popular but, then so was a variable mismatch of deliciously retro prints. Some of them took me right back to playing dress up with my mothers clothes. Elie Tahari championed metallics and luxurious fabrics in fresh colours. That blue look is incredible. D&G went gothic. The anti-summer. Being from Ireland, and a fan of summer black I adored this collection, it was refreshing and interesting. Rodarte was just plain cool. Reminded me of the film The Virgin Suicides for some reason. Fairly obvious Van Gogh inspiration.
All very 90's. There was even a hint of patchwork denim in the Alexander Wang and Charlotte Ronson shows. Patchwork denim always makes me happy.

Hair and Make up

Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, D&G, Derek Lam, Fendi, Jil Sander, Marni, Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte, Thakoon

Hair: Sea-washed, stepford wife, loose, low knots, middle partings, sleeked back like Danny Zuko 'Cady will you please tell him his hair looks sexy pushed back', poodle curls and lots of back-combing, candy floss colouring.
Make up: Minimal, smudged liner, bright lips, blonde brows, heavy metallic shadows and glittering gloss, red eyes, the smoky eye is making a comeback also.

Shoes

Burberry Prorsum, Dolce & Gabbana, Jil Sander, Marni, Mary Katrantzou, Michael Kors, Missoni, Oscar de la Renta, Rag and Bone, Rodarte.

Although it is rumoured that the kitten heel is making a comeback, you won't see any of that here. Go high or go home.

If the Scatman can do it brother, so can you

I hurt my knee.
Badly.
I was dancing on a table. I fell of the table. It's my own doing. Well, my sisters really for her absolutely inspired table dancing idea.
It was to this tune.
Which makes me feel slightly better, because, well, we had the craic.

Doc said the bruising will go through all the colours of the rainbow before it heals properly. He gives me a month. Two weeks until I'm not walking with my old school limp swagger.
So far it's been purple, blue, green and now yellow. I'm eagerly anticipating orange.

For me, one of the biggest problems is the fact that, for almost the first time in my life, my desire to wear heels has been beaten. Nothing has ever come between me and my shoes before.
And, given that my knee will be covering the colour spectrum, I only want to wear black shoes. Which are, let's face it, sexy.

It's truly heartbreaking.

I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoe

According to the Express the average woman will spend over £16,000 on shoes in her lifetime. What a load of BS.
Perhaps that is my shoe obsession talking but, should I be fortunate to own all the shoes I desire in my lifetime, the expense will amount to far more than £16K.
People mocked when Carrie Bradshaw declared that she had spent over $40,000 on her amazing footwear collection. Miranda raised her eyebrows in a way that said 'My god, on shoes are you serious?'
My initial reaction was also 'Really?' After reading the article however, I thought about it a bit more.
Fortunately, I have been gifted some beautiful shoes over the years but my entire collection is up there already, and I'm only 20. As a poor student I can't purchase all round me but when I join the employment forces I'll be able to indulge in all the shoes I drool over and I imagine that the shoe section of my wardrobe will need it's own room.
Am I alone in this? I'm not into jewelery. A couple of rings are as far as I'll go. I don't even have my ears pierced for crying out loud! My head cannot handle a hat. They just don't work. I like a good handbag but more often than not, if I have pockets the bag stays at home. Shoes are my accessory of choice.
I like to let clothes speak for themselves and not hide them behind a huge necklace but, a great pair of shoes make an outfit. They turn a LBD into a statement.
£16000 won't cut it with me and heres why.

If cupid's got a gun, then he's shootin'

I am currently on the lookout for the perfect white shirt. Sheer, drapes beautifully, slightly oversized, silk with pockets on the chest and the perfect collar.
Sadly the universe is trying to keep me and my perfect shirt apart.
Also, should you be in a situation such as myself, whereby you love two pairs of shoes but, unfortunately you can only afford one. Which would you choose?
